Teenager Suspended For Profane MySpace

Exceprt: Wessel’s enthusiasm was shattered when she learned that she would be sitting on the sidelines while the rest of the Strutters team took the field. “It makes me really angry,” she said. “I’ve practiced so much.”

There is no reason what-so-ever that this girl be suspended from her drill team. First of all, I want to know who exactly reported her MySpace to whatever authority. Which one of her MySpace “friends” would sell her out like that? If I sold out all my friends…well, I’d probably be at the top and not living on the streets by the river.

Also, I hate it when older people try to get involved with the internet but have no knowledge about what they’re doing. This principal, sitting in his tax-funded spinning chair, got on his computer; and, having no idea what MySpace is (except that he knows it’s “bad”), read this girl’s personal page. What if she didn’t even write these things, what if someone hackked her account (which so often happens) and wrote profanity on her page just to get her in trouble?

MySpace pages are automatically set to private. If this girl is posting bikini pictures and harsh profanity, she probably doesn’t even know how to change her page to a public account. So, This principal must have been logged on to someone who is actually this girl’s friend’s account.

So, this girl is stupid in the first place, and needs to learn more about the internet before she gets on it. But that gives the school system no right to fight ignorance with ignorance and punish this girl for what she participates in off-campus.

About The Educated Hobo

All my life, everyone's told me that I'd never accomplish anything and that I'd end up living on the streets or in a van down by the river. Well, despite their criticism and Saturday Night Live references, I managed to end up doing exactly as they predicted.
