“Monty Python” Actor Left Poorer Than Ex-Wife After Divorce
“Monty Python star Cleese, 70, is less than pleased about the arrangement, which will ultimately leave his ex-wife the richer of the two. ‘What I find so unfair is that if we both died today, her children would get much more than mine,’ he said. ‘At least I will know in future if I go out with a lady they will not be after me for my money.’” -PopEater
This is one of the things about the civil court system that gets me incredibly irate. I hate alimony, child support, and the half-half divorce policy.
This is a perfect example of how preposterous the civil court is getting to be. How is it that this millionaire comes out short when he has done all the work and made all the money, and his wife just sat back and waited to divorce?
Alimony is ridiculous, also. Women are able to stay at home while they’re married and just decide they want more. But instead of working for more, they do not work at all, and still bring in the same wages. The man has no control over what happens to his money.
Child support, too. The woman births the child and doesn’t have to work to take care of it. Instead, the man that helped in making the child (but ultimately has no control over what happens to it) has to pay to take care of it and could never even get to see it.
In my opinion, if the woman wants to keep the baby, she should have to pay for it herself. Otherwise she can give it up for adoption and make a good, wealthy couple happy (or, thanks to Roe v. Wade, just abort it [which I’d advise against]).

The alimony issue, of course, excludes certain circumstances (abuse), when the woman can’t go on living with the man (but even then, the alimony should be government-funded, and the man should be safely behind bars).
