Man Is Freed After Being Convicted of Rape

The Story: New Haven (WTNH) - Kenneth Ireland spent 21 years behind bars for a crime he did not commit. Today he was back in a New Haven court where prosecutors dropped all charges against him.

I’m tired of seeing the criminal justice system fail like this. First of all, and not to offend anyone, police officers feel that they are above the law. And, trust me, I’ve seen them, I know quite a few (I’m a local at the local station), they just do whatever they want and nothing happens to them.

When someone who doesn’t have connections get sent to prison like this, I can’t help but feel the most extreme compassion. Prison is one of the worst places I can think of (besides the soup kitchen on taco day), and this man had to spend twenty-one years locked up with horrible criminals for doing nothing.

If anything, this guy should get millions from the court system, even though that would never erase the traumatising effects prison-life must have had on him. I hope to God I never go to prison (and I’m thankful that pan-handling is a misdemeanour).

About The Educated Hobo

All my life, everyone's told me that I'd never accomplish anything and that I'd end up living on the streets or in a van down by the river. Well, despite their criticism and Saturday Night Live references, I managed to end up doing exactly as they predicted.
